IgM ELISA

A serological test for recent infection that detects IgM antibodies.

Pairing IgM ELISA with IgG ELISA distinguishes recent infection (IgM positive) from past exposure (IgG positive only).

RT-PCR on whole blood or serum complements ELISA, particularly in the very early phase before antibodies develop.
